Innovation Advancing Education (IAE), in conjunction with the Ingenuity Center at UT Tyler, provided an Engineering Challenge Workshop on November 5, 2010 at the Ornelas Activity Center at UT Tyler.
The workshop was designed to prepare teachers for the East Texas State Fair Academic Rodeo Engineering Challenge.
The seven hour workshop included a project overview, sharing of best practices with last year’s winners, teambuilding, identifying and managing personality types and demonstrations of critical and creative thinking. The workshop also included over three hours of teacher hands-on training with LEGO® kits.
The following schools participated: Jack Elementary, Sabine Elementary, Bishop Gorman, EJ Moss Intermediate, Velma Penny Elementary, Hubbard Middle School, Arp Jr. High, Eustace ISD, and New Diana Middle School. The LEGO® kits were distributed to participating schools at the workshop.
